Job Summary
The Elementary Music Teacher provides high-quality music instruction to students in grades K-5, fostering musical literacy, creativity, and appreciation. This position supports the district's educational mission by delivering a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with Board of Education adopted standards while engaging students through diverse instructional strategies and performance opportunities.
Essential Duties
* Teach elementary music education to students in grades K-5 using the district-adopted course of study
* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and methodologies
* Integrate multicultural music experiences and activities into the curriculum
* Assess student learning and provide feedback to support musical growth
* Maintain and manage music equipment, materials, and supplies
* Coordinate and support district music performances and events as requested
* Collaborate with classroom teachers to support music education across the curriculum
* Provide guidance and assistance in music education to staff as needed
Qualifications
Required:
* Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Music Endorsement
* Knowledge of current elementary music curriculum and instructional methodologies
Preferred:
* Classroom music teaching experience
* Training and/or experience working with elementary-aged students
Skills & Expectations
* Strong classroom management and instructional skills
* Ability to engage and motivate elementary students through music
* Effective communication and collaboration with students, staff, and administration
* Organizational skills related to curriculum planning, performances, and materials management
* Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
