Location: Tioga School – Pre‑K Program

Reports To: Pre‑K Principal / Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

Employment Type: Full‑Time, School Year Position

Position Overview

Bensenville School District 2 is seeking a dedicated and student‑centered Pre‑K Special Education Teacher to support the academic, social‑emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth of early childhood learners. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and individualized supports for students with disabilities within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff to create developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote school readiness and student success. This position requires a strong understanding of early childhood special education practices, differentiated instruction, and inclusive supports for diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction aligned to IEP goals and early childhood learning standards
  • Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
  • Utilize evidence‑based instructional strategies and interventions to support student growth and development
  • Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports social‑emotional learning and positive behavior development
  • Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and classroom staff to support student needs
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation related to IEPs, assessments, and interventions
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and use student data to guide instructional planning and decision‑making
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, goals, and supports
  • Participate as an active member of IEP, MTSS, and problem‑solving teams
  • Support students during transitions into and throughout the Pre‑K program
  • Implement behavior supports and classroom management strategies that promote student independence and engagement
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required;
    Master’s Degree preferred
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) in the State of Illinois with Early Childhood endorsement required
  • Illinois Special Education endorsement or approval required
  • Experience working with young children with diverse learning needs preferred
  • Knowledge of special education law, IEP development, differentiated instruction, and early childhood development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an early childhood or Pre‑K special education setting
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices, behavior intervention strategies, and social‑emotional learning supports
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations
  • Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
Physical Demands
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees of the District
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, diagram, or oral form
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms
  • Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits are based on the negotiated teacher contract for the 2026–2027 school year.
