Special Education Paraprofessional
Bensenville School District 2 is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional to support a student with special education needs in an inclusive school setting. Under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher and special education team, the paraprofessional will provide individualized academic, behavioral, social, and/or self-help support to help the student access the curriculum, participate successfully in the school environment, and develop greater independence.
The ideal candidate will be dependable, compassionate, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families while maintaining a positive and supportive approach to student needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Provide individualized 1:1 support to a student throughout the school day, as directed by the classroom teacher and special education team.
- Assist the student in accessing and participating in classroom instruction and school activities.
- Support implementation of accommodations, modifications, behavioral strategies, and other supports identified in the student's IEP.
- Assist with academic, social-emotional, behavioral, communication, and/or self-help needs as appropriate.
- Provide prompting and support while encouraging the student's independence and development of appropriate skills.
- Assist with transitions between classrooms and other school settings.
- Support student safety and supervision in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeteria, washrooms, and other school environments.
- Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and activities.
- Collect and maintain accurate information regarding student progress, behaviors, and other data as directed.
- Assist the classroom teacher with the implementation of the daily instructional program.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and other school personnel.
- Participate in staff development and training activities as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Hours:
35 hours a week, 7 hours a day

Qualifications:
- Paraprofessional License
- Experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team.
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
