Position

Welder

Responsibilities
  • Develop a work plan that includes the sequence for the overall fabrication and finishing processes, as well as the approach, process and sub-assemblies for completing the work and meeting customer requirements.
  • Read blueprints and demonstrate an understanding of geometric tolerances, welding symbols and the quality of the required weld using MIG or TIG standards.
  • Ensure the overall quality of the welding work including distortion and dimensional control and take corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering as needed to complete the job.
  • Verify that the work meets the required quality standards.
  • Participate in visual work instructions development activities as needed.
  • Coordinate with Grinding & Polishing to maintain paperwork and required QC tracking, including routing, documenting critical inspection features, work completed, etc.
  • Responsible for material handling that reflects common manufacturing processes and takes precautions to protect material and finish.
  • Perform daily and ongoing preventative maintenance on welding tools and equipment as required.
  • Maintain calibrated equipment used to verify quality to standards.
  • Participate in QC/continuous improvement processes to increase performance and product quality.
  • Projects as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Always wear personal protective equipment when in the plant
  • Participate in all required safety training and perform as trained
  • Speak up when you see something happening that is not safe
  • Fully trained in crane and fork lift safety
Qualifications
  • Blueprint reading with comprehension of part
  • 5 years experience with stainless steel MIG and/or TIG welding
  • Fabrication knowledge
    • Make sub-assemblies
    • Sequence the weld assembly
    • How to restrain part for welding
    • Develop procedures for welding
  • Knowledge of distortion control and straightening
  • Know how to measure and handle measuring equipment
  • Material handling and crane operation
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
