Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a dynamic organization in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This long-term contract position requires a detail-oriented individual who can streamline accounting processes, ensure accurate reporting, and provide mentorship to entry-level team members. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and be adept at managing financial statements, reconciliations, and payroll.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and manage comprehensive financial statements for consolidation and reporting purposes.

- Oversee month-end closing activities, ensuring accuracy in journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Handle vendor invoicing, including processing and addressing payment inquiries.

- Manage payroll operations for approximately 45 employees using Quick Books Desktop.

- Transition financial processes from cash basis to accrual accounting, including adjustments for prepaid expenses and accruals.

- Support HR-related tasks and provide guidance in the absence of key personnel.

- Collaborate with external accountants to facilitate tax returns and audits.

- Ensure compliance with financial standards and reporting requirements for private equity investors.

- Identify and correct errors in financial transactions and implement measures to prevent duplication.

- Provide training and mentorship to team members, fostering growth and efficiency. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager, preferably in a larger organization.

- Proficiency in Quick Books Desktop for payroll and financial management.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end closing procedures.

- Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements with attention to detail.

- Skilled in account reconciliation and processing journal entries.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
