The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and inventory management practices to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality supply chain. This role is responsible for analyzing current supply chain performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce cost. The Specialist will negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers;
identify and qualify new vendors; and establish supplier quality and part approval processes. In addition, the role will define purchasing parameters and inventory targets, ensuring alignment with production needs and organizational goals.

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and reliable supply of materials and services.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to meet current and future business needs.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable agreements.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to support long-term business objectives.
- Implement and oversee supplier quality assurance programs, including part approval processes, performance monitoring, and corrective action follow-up.
- Analyze current supply chain processes and inventory management practices to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Define inventory targets, safety stock levels, and reorder points to support production requirements and customer commitments.
- Coordinate with operations, engineering, and finance teams to align supply chain strategies with organizational goals.
- Monitor and reduce purchase variances, excess inventory, and obsolete stock.
- Track and report supplier performance, including cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness metrics.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Prepare regular reports on purchasing commitments, costs, and delivery performance for senior management review.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Will consider equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Professional certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, sourcing, or procurement in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success in negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers.
- Experience managing supplier performance and implementing supplier quality processes.
- Proven ability to analyze supply chain and inventory performance to identify and implement improvements.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems for purchasing, inventory management, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain best practices, strategic sourcing methods, and cost analysis.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
