Job OverviewDescription: Facilitate day-to-day management and instruction of students as directed by the Administrator and the Academy Board.
Reports To:Building Principal
Employed By:Academy Board
Qualifications:- MI Teaching Certification, Out of State Teaching Certification, or the ability to obtain a Teaching Permit.
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to work with urban and rural youth in a diverse population
- Experience with developing a thematic interdisciplinary curriculum
- Experience with hands-on/minds-on teaching
- Understanding of integrating information technology into curricula
- Ability to work as a team member
- Must pass state and federal criminal background check
- Develop and implement curriculum aligned with MDE benchmarking, utilizing food, agriculture, renewable resources, and environmental themes.
- Integrate technology throughout instruction.
- Use outcome-based assessments and multiple evaluation strategies to monitor student learning.
- Create a positive classroom environment with clear procedures and rules.
- Communicate regularly with parents and administration regarding student progress and classroom needs.
- Record attendance, grades, and lunch data accurately.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Follow individual student behavior plans.
- Set clear expectations and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Provide guidance to paraprofessionals, evaluate their performance, and support their professional growth.
- Support the vision of the Academy as outlined by the Board.
- Implement policies set by the Academy Board.
- Monitor safety and appropriate technology use.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Administrator or Board.

Qualifications:
Strong Food/Nutrition background, at least an associate's degree, and classroom experience.
