Essential

Functions
  • Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through traditional, online, remote, and hybrid formats, using course outlines approved by the College Curriculum Council.
  • Advises students and holds posted office hours.
  • Delivers supplemental instruction, as assigned.
  • In collaboration with departmental colleagues, designs, selects, and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at the course and program level.
  • Submits contract, grades, attendance reports, and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines.
  • Attends departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings.
  • Collaborates with academic administration in conducting program reviews and other institutional activities intended to promote continuous improvement in teaching and learning, including periodic curriculum reviews.
  • Effectively integrates the use of instructional technology in instruction.
  • Remains current in the discipline taught as well as in current trends in teaching methodologies.
  • Participates in graduation exercises.
  • Contributes to decision‑making in a productive manner.
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards in relationships with constituencies, research activities, and business dealings with and on behalf of the College, per College policy.

  • Job Specifications

    A minimum of a Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related discipline (e.g., Statistics, Math education) including 18 graduate hours in Mathematics. College‑level math teaching experience highly preferred. Instructor must adhere to the Lake Michigan College Mathematics standardized curriculum and testing procedures for all appropriate courses. This is a 12‑month contract with a minimum course load of 36 contact hours annually.

    Work load to be spread between Fall, Spring, and Summer terms as assigned.

    Other Highly Desired Qualities

    Teaching experience in a broad array of Mathematics including Quantitative Reasoning, Statistics, and a range of courses between Developmental Math and Calculus preferred. Commitment to the value of diversity and the free and open exchange of ideas; technically competent particularly in instructional technology; ability to design and implement effective assessment strategies for measuring student learning; knowledgeable and committed to the mission and purposes of community colleges.

    Benefits start on the first day of hire, including extensive paid time off (including Spring Break), college fully pays in‑network health insurance deductible, minimum 10% employer retirement contribution per payroll, and more.

    $40,000 - $51,000
