Role Description The Secondary English Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Benton Harbor, MI. This position is responsible for planning and delivering engaging English language arts instruction to secondary-level students, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature analysis. Daily tasks include preparing lesson plans, teaching classes, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of grades and assignments.

The teacher will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum alignment, participate in staff meetings and professional development, and communicate regularly with families regarding student performance. The role also involves supporting a positive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and respect.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong English Teaching skills and be a Qualified Teacher with appropriate certification or licensure for secondary education.
• Candidates should possess a solid foundation in English Literature, including the ability to teach a range of genres, periods, and authors.
• Candidates should possess skills in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development to design structured, standards-aligned learning experiences.
• Candidates should possess effective classroom management, student assessment, and differentiated instruction skills to support diverse learning needs.
• Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage with families.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a closely related field is preferred; experience teaching at the secondary level and familiarity with Christian school settings are beneficial.
