Product Designer
We are seeking a talented Product Designer for a minimum 3-month contract, with the potential for extension based on workload. The role involves designing and modifying parts and assemblies for both new and existing products. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating CAD and engineering documentation, as well as providing design support to the engineering team, customers, and suppliers.
Responsibilities- Design and modify parts and assemblies primarily using SOLIDWORKS 3D drawing tools to meet customer requirements.
- Prepare information including tolerance stack-ups, design calculations, detail sheets, modified prints, and engineering standards per engineer's requests.
- Support print and design reviews.
- Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to support design and engineering print creation.
- Provide training and consultation to engineering, procurement, and quality teams as required.
- Manage multiple projects using effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain, coordinate, and process routine engineering change documentation and perform miscellaneous duties as required.
- Read prints and interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Associates Degree in design/CAD or certificate and 3+ years of experience
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Mechanical Design experience - needs to have DFM (design for manufacturing)
- Casting, machining or sheet metal experience
- Ability to read prints and interpret GD&T (understanding of datum placement, position/profile, runout)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), and simulation.
- Experience with Co-create, IDEAS, and/or AutoCAD.
This role involves working closely with the engineering manager and receiving direction from engineers.
The work environment is collaborative, providing opportunities for training and consultation with various teams.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Benton Harbor, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
