About GAST Manufacturing
GAST Manufacturing, a business unit of IDEX Corporation, has a long history of leading the design and manufacturing of quality air‑moving products. It specializes in cost‑effective solutions for industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and environmental cleanup applications.
Scope of RoleSupport the GAST engineering team by executing all 3D modeling needs spanning new product development and updates or changes to existing 3D models and engineering documentation.
Responsibilities- Create new product and component designs in Solid Works with proper modeling, detailing and design intent.
- Achieve 90% on‑time delivery to design activities (hit timeline targets).
- Achieve modeling integrity and detailing capability for design function, manufacturability and serviceability.
- Prepare supporting documentation, including modified prints and engineering standards per engineer’s requests.
- Apply/interpret basic GD&T (datum placement, position/profile, run‑out).
- Modify existing product and component designs in Solid Works with proper modeling, detailing and design intent.
- Achieve a 1‑week average turnaround time on redraws, CIPs, ECRs, and NMPRs.
- Maintain, coordinate and process routine engineering change documentation and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
- Associate’s degree in Design or a technically related field, or at least four (4) years of product design experience.
- Advanced candidates:
Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of product design experience. - Fluency in SOLIDWORKS with strong component and assembly modeling.
- Demonstrated ability in basic sketch functions, extrude and revolve functions, application of mates/constraints, and basic tolerancing.
- Engineering Design knowledge and general mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of basic tolerancing (linear/angular) and its impact.
- Design for manufacturing knowledge: casting/molding, machining, sheet metal.
- Knowledge of pneumatics is a plus.
- Experience with Inventor, Fusion 360 or Creo.
- Advanced use of sheet metal functions in Solid Works.
- Knowledge of powder metal, 3D printing, welding, stamping/forming, and tool design.
- Self‑direction: function responsibly with minimal active oversight.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proactive in seeking proper input when answers are unclear.
- Integrity, trust, and teamwork: comfortable working within a team/network, asking for help when needed, and providing help when able.
