Job Summary

The Boardwalk is a new and growing wedding and event venue in SW Michigan. We are seeking to expand our team of coordinators and event planners.

If you have a passion for the excitement and hospitality of weddings and events, we are looking for fun and energetic personalities to join our team.

In the position of venue coordinator you will learn valuable skills about planning and hosting different types of events. You will work directly under the venue owner and senior venue coordinator to bring events to life. You will also be working alongside skilled hospitality and entertainment professionals and forming relationships with vendors.

This role is primarily based onsite working both indoors and outdoors on our beautiful riverfront venue on the St. Joseph River. Training will be provided, and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting tours and sales with potential clients
  • Planning with clients for their events and timelines
  • Developing relationships and facilitating introductions to vendors
  • Setting up for events
  • Cleaning up after events
  • Minor gardening and landscaping
  • Tech and A/V setup and administration
  • Flexible Scheduling
  • Introductions to Key Industry Vendors
  • Opportunities for growth and promotion within the organization
  • The Boardwalk is a small and growing local business. Healthcare and other benefits are not currently offered. As our team grows, these benefits will become available.
Job Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

  • Prior event or hospitality experience, especially in the wedding industry

Seasonality of this Full-Time Position

The Boardwalk operates year round with the majority of large weddings and events being hosted on weekends during the summer season May-October. During this season weekday schedules are flexible with most team members setting their own hours, and all hands on deck during weekend events. Expectations are for team members to not exceed 40 hours per week, and you will be expected and encouraged to take time off during the week to rest and recover.

During the off-season (Nov-Apr) hours are abundantly flexible with team members working primarily remotely to plan and organize events for next season.

Local Candidates Preferred

As a part of the community of West Michigan, we are seeking to hire local professionals who are available onsite throughout the year. Your proximity to Benton Harbor / St. Joe, or willingness to commute or relocate will be strongly considered.

Prior Experience

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of prior experience in the sectors of hospitality, customer service, and / or working at a wedding venue or within the wedding industry. Alternatively a candidate may have studied a relevant hospitality management course or event management program and seeking an entry level position in the industry. A background in theater and performance is also a plus.
