JOB DESCRIPTION

• Teach students with disabilities in the classroom and community setting.
• Meet with parents and guardians to provide guidance in using community resources and to teach skills for dealing with students' impairments.
• Instruct students in daily living skills required for independent maintenance and self-sufficiency, such as hygiene, safety, and food preparation.
• Prepare special education paperwork and conduct special education conferences in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
• Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curriculum.
• Provide additional instruction in vocational areas.
• Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine students' strengths and areas of need.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.

• Valid Arkansas Department of Education educator's license with special education K-12 endorsement.
• Bachelor's degree required;
  Special Education master's degree preferred.
• Classroom teacher experience preferred but not required.
• Demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
• Pass criminal background check.
• Pass Arkansas Child Maltreatment Registry check.
• Three years experience preferred but not required.
