To teach a weekday preschool education class at First Baptist Church. The 4-year-old program operates on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the months of September to mid-May. The program runs from 8:30 AM to 11:45 AM each day with an optional extended care from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Qualifications:- 18 years of age or older.
- Demonstrate patience, compassion, and energy to guide a class of young children successfully.
- Pass Child Maltreatment Check (Central Registry) and Criminal Records Check (with fingerprints)—Maltreatment checks every 2 years, Criminal checks every 5 years
- Registered with Professional Development Registry (PDR) within 30 days of hire
- Completion of New Staff Orientation (within 3 months of employment and every 3 years after)
- Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid certification (completed every 2 years)
- Completion of 15 hours of training in Early Childhood Education every calendar year
- Visible, growing relationship with Christ.
High school diploma or GED
Preferred criteria to include, but not required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
- Previous experience in early childhood education
- Able to communicate with young children at their level.
- Patient, compassionate attitude, with a friendly, energetic disposition.
- Good mediation and nurturing abilities.
- Creative mindset with an ability to facilitate memorable learning experiences
- Passion for shaping and inspiring young minds.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and adapt lesson plans
- Possess the ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Highly self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Educating children about fundamental concepts, such as colors, letters, numbers, and shapes.
- Encouraging social interactions between children and improving their self esteem.
- Engaging in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling.
- Planning comprehensive curriculums to address early childhood development strands.
- Installing a sense of order and discipline in the classroom.
- Monitoring free time on the playground.
- Ensuring the classroom is safe, clean, and provides an organized environment for the children.
- Communicating with parents to foster development at home and school
- Monitoring children’s progress with expected learning outcomes.
- Preparing for lessons by gathering materials and setting up workstations.
- Attending professional development meetings and obtaining certificates of completion.
- Sitting, standing, squatting, climbing stairs, and lifting at least 30lbs.
- Preparing lesson plans and activities for up to 4 hours during the academic year.
- Teaching children during preschool hours of 8:30 AM until 12:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the academic year. Working in extended care as needed.
- Arriving at work no later than 8:00 AM
- Beginning in mid-August, hourly compensation may be provided by completing the following job tasks: attending professional development courses, preparing classroom materials, attending teacher meetings, attending open house, etc.
