Maintenance Technician III

Job Summary

PRN position with anticipated coverage needs primarily Monday‑Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., based on department needs.

Performs any such duties deemed consistent with the general maintenance of a healthcare facility or commercial physical plant facility and associated properties.

• State Boiler Operator's License or ability to secure such licensing within 30 days.
• Five years of commercial maintenance or construction start‑up/installation experience.
• Extensive ability for maintenance troubleshooting.
• Extensive electrical/mechanical repair aptitude.
• Extensive knowledge in a specialized skill such as electricity, electronics, plumbing, HVAC, telephones, telecommunications.
• Ability to make proper decisions in an emergency, meet deadlines, and assist in keeping the hospital operating smoothly at all times.
• Must be available for emergency call at specified intervals.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures; inspect, calibrate, adjust, lubricate, and repair or replace components. Maintain documentation of work done on equipment.
• Perform daily checks on all equipment and make necessary repairs.
• Assist in performing carpentry and painting as necessary in renovations and repairs.
• Install and/or repair electrical systems, plumbing systems, HVAC equipment and systems, telephones and associated wiring, and electronic systems as specialized skills dictate.
• Assist department manager in ordering materials and supplies necessary to maintain equipment and facilities.
• Assist in heavy moving necessitated by office changes, renovation projects, and/or moving items to storage.
• Attend departmental meetings, safety meetings, and in‑services as required.
• Use equipment and materials such as boilers, generators, air conditioning units, pumps, motors, saws, drills, plumbing equipment, basic carpentry tools, basic maintenance tools, acetylene and electric welder, mowers, weed trimmers, etc.
• Perform security duties as assigned in campus security support.

Must be able to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands for finger, feel, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Lift up to 25 lbs., occasionally carry up to 25 lbs., occasionally push up to 200 lbs., and frequently pull up to 50 lbs.

Co‑workers may be exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and extreme cold. Noise level can be high ess level is high; the position requires working under pressure.

• State HVAC License, EPA Certified Refrigeration License, or a Master Electrical License.
