Position: Controller (34397)
Description:

The Controller is responsible for leading the accounting function of a 600+ person, multi-entity Architecture & Engineering firm with domestic and international operations and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This role oversees consolidated financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, technical accounting, treasury operations support, audit and tax management, and the integrity of financial information across all business units.

The Controller partners closely with the CFO, FP&A, Project Accounting, HR/ESOP administration, and operational leaders to ensure accurate financial data, strong financial governance, and scalable processes that support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Leadership and Oversight:
  • Lead and develop an accounting team across AR, AP, GL, payroll, project accounting, and international entity accounting.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes; ensure timely and accurate consolidated financial statements.
  • Maintain a robust internal control environment and accounting policies aligned with US GAAP, ASC 606, and ESOP reporting requirements.
  • Direct accounting for multi-entity, multi-currency operations, including intercompany eliminations and foreign currency translation.
Technical Accounting and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, state, and international statutory accounting rules.
  • Lead annual financial audits and manage external audit relationships.
  • Maintain compliance related to tax filings, international VAT/GST, revenue recognition, and regulatory reporting.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Produce monthly internal financials, dashboards, KPIs, and board-level reporting packages.
  • Ensure accuracy of project financial reporting (WIP, utilization, margins, etc.).
  • Coordinate with FP&A on budgets, forecasts, cash planning, and variance analysis.
  • Support M&A financial due diligence, purchase accounting, integration of acquired entities, and system migrations.
Systems, Processes, and Controls:
  • Serves as the functional leader for the company's ERP accounting environment (Microsoft Dynamics F&O).
  • Drive automation, workflow improvements, and data standardization.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
    CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
  • Experience in a multi-entity A/E/C environment required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and intercompany accounting.
  • Prior ESOP accounting experience or exposure preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop accounting team in a high-growth environment.
