National Account Manager – Walmart (Power Tools | Private Brand)
This role will serve as the primary commercial leader responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, customer relationships, and strategic business development with Walmart. The National Account Manager will work closely with Walmart merchants, replenishment teams, product development and key cross-functional partners across Great Star's global organization. This position requires exceptional customer management skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to effectively collaborate with product development, sourcing, engineering, and manufacturing teams located throughout Asia.
The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of Walmart's retail ecosystem, experience in the power tools, hardware, or home improvement categories, and a proven ability to manage complex private brand programs from concept through execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for Walmart within the Hardware Private Brand business.
- Develop and execute annual sales and category growth strategies aligned with Walmart's objectives and Great Star's business goals.
- Build trusted partnerships with Walmart merchants, product development managers, replenishment managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead line reviews, annual business planning, assortment recommendations, promotional planning, and new item launches.
- Negotiate pricing, program terms, promotional opportunities, and assortment expansions that drive growth.
- Identify opportunities to product and program offerings across Walmart stores and eCommerce platforms.
- Lead development of ecommerce strategy to rapidly accelerate digital sales growth.
- Deliver annual revenue, market share, and other assigned targets.
- Monitor sales trends, inventory levels, in-stock performance, competitive activity, and category insights.
- Analyze customer and marketplace data to identify growth opportunities and mitigate business risks.
- Utilize Walmart systems and reporting tools, including Retail Link and Scintilla, to make data driven business decisions.
- Lead regular business reviews with Walmart and internal leadership teams.
- Partner with global sourcing, engineering, quality, and product development teams to create innovative tool solutions for Walmart.
- Manage product development timelines, commercialization efforts, and launch execution.
- Ensure products meet Walmart's quality, compliance, packaging, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost optimization, margin enhancement, and product differentiation.
- Act as a key bridge between Walmart and Great Star's Asia-based sourcing, product development, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Effectively communicate customer requirements, product specifications, forecasts, and project timelines across global teams.
- Coordinate with factories and supply chain partners to ensure successful product launches, inventory availability, and service excellence.
- Support factory visits, customer visits, product reviews, and issue resolution activities as required.
- Demonstrate strong cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively across multiple time zones and international business environments.
- Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional support team.
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship to build a high-performing sales support organization.
Experience and qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive sales or account management experience supporting Walmart or another major national retailer. Prior experience with Private Brand models preferred.
- Experience with in Power Tools, Hardware, Home Improvement, Durable Goods, Consumer Products, or related categories.
- Demonstrated success managing and growing large retail customer relationships.
- Previous people leadership experience with direct reports.
- Strong analytical, financial, and business planning skills.
