Position Overview

This part‑time faculty position involves teaching in the Construction Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree program. The faculty member will deliver instruction, facilitate student learning and meet the mission of NWACC Workforce Technology Building Sciences Academic Area.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver instruction to students.
  • Employ suitable strategies to foster student learning.
  • Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning.
  • Maintain proper class‑related records.
  • Contact students outside the classroom to relay class work and assignments related to student absence.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field, vocation or profession.
  • Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress.
  • Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching.
Curriculum Support
  • Support the academic area and college through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
Rate of Pay

$765 per credit hour

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the construction industry at a supervisory level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or ability to obtain by position start date.
  • Teaching experience in the function, use, installation, operation, performance, maintenance, and safety associated with tools and techniques in the Construction Industry with an emphasis on Construction Materials, Carpentry skills, Estimating, Scheduling, Construction Codes, and other areas.
  • NCCER instructor certification or ability to obtain by position start date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority. Experience with leadership at a community college or educational institution is a plus. Ability to use an online platform, deliver online instruction, and use technology for instruction are required. Experience or interest in project‑based, service‑learning, or inquiry‑based learning will be given special consideration. Knowledge of good laboratory procedures and governmental safety regulations regarding construction is desirable.

  • Noise level moderate.
  • Frequent manipulation of items with fingers, keyboarding; sitting, standing, walking.
  • Constant hearing, repetitive motion, talking.
  • Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer, extensive reading, and visual inspection at close distances.
