Position: Full Time Faculty, History

Full-Time Faculty Member in History

The Full-Time Faculty member in History teaches History of the American People to and since 1877, and others as needed, including World Civilizations to and since 1500 in traditional, online, and hybrid formats.

Essential Duties:

Instruction (15 credit hours per semester):

  • Teach history courses using established course outlines across multiple delivery formats
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records in compliance with FERPA
  • Hold 10 on-campus office hours per week and maintain regular communication with students
  • Participate in program assessment, curriculum development, and textbook selection
  • Attend and fulfill all scheduled classes, meetings, and academic responsibilities
  • Maintain an on-campus presence averaging 32 hours per week

Professional Development:

  • Maintain current knowledge in historical scholarship through ongoing professional development and continuing education

Service to the College:

  • Advise and support students in achieving academic goals
  • Serve on committees, advisory boards, and participate in campus governance
  • Attend required meetings, ceremonies, and professional events.
  • Mentor new faculty and contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the department and college

Rate of pay: determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)
* Higher compensation may be considered based on qualifications directly related to position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in history
  • Master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in history
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in a related field
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Eighteen graduate hours in political science
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong commitment to student success and quality teaching
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, including Canvas LMS (or willingness to learn)
  • Alignment with the mission and goals of Northwest Arkansas Community College

The work environment typically consists of a professional office setting with a moderate noise level, including sounds from conversations, office equipment, and occasional movement of staff. Employees may occasionally need to visit other areas, such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations, where environmental conditions may vary.

Infrequently, exposure to louder noise levels or physical activities, such as moving lightweight materials, might be required.
