New Heights Bentonville | Job Description

20 hours weekly, part-time ministry position

Reports to:

Kenyon Birdwell, Student Ministry Director Compensation: $20,000 to $24,000 annually, based on experience A NOTE ON THIS POSITION

New Heights Bentonville is a religious organization. This is a ministerial position, and the person who fills it is called to teach the Scriptures, disciple students, and provide spiritual care as a representative of this church.

Being a woman is a bona fide occupational qualification for this role. Our theological convictions and our commitment to the safety and spiritual care of teenage girls require that this ministry be led by a woman.

ABOUT NEW HEIGHTS

New Heights Bentonville is a non-denominational evangelical church in Bentonville, Arkansas, in the heart of one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. We are a church of 800+ that holds to historic Christian doctrine and exists to make disciples who love God passionately and love people tangibly. We are in a season of growth, including a new building project and a 2030 vision that is shaping every area of our ministry.

WHY

THIS ROLE EXISTS

Teenage girls need women who love Jesus to disciple them. Some of these girls have a mother who does that. Many do not.

This role exists so that someone teaches them the Scriptures, knows each of them by name, and trains every leader who sits with them.

This is a ministry position. You are being called to spiritual leadership of our female students, not hired to support a program.

WHO YOU WORK WITH

You will work directly with Kenyon Birdwell, who leads our student ministry. He is building a staff culture that develops people and gives them real ownership of their work. You will meet with him weekly.

WHAT YOU WILL DO Teach the Scriptures
  • Teach female students regularly in small group and girls gathering settings
  • Develop gospel-centered teaching and small group content that forms students in the faith
  • Contribute to series planning and teaching direction alongside the Student Ministry Director
  • You may also teach in the large group setting. This is not a primary responsibility of this role, and you will not be expected to carry a teaching rotation.
Disciple Female Students
  • Personally disciple 6 to 8 girls through consistent relationships
  • Lead one girls small group on Wednesday nights and oversee the rest
  • Develop student leaders who carry the mission into their schools and friend groups
  • Provide first-line spiritual care for girls in crisis, and bring Kenyon in immediately when a situation requires pastoral or parental involvement
Build and Lead the Team of Leaders
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd our volunteer leaders
  • Meet regularly with each leader for coaching, prayer, and development
  • Ensure every girls small group has a trained, background-checked leader
  • Help maintain team culture and standards alongside the Student Ministry Director
Partner with Parents
  • Build relationships with the parents in our student ministry
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with parents of female students
  • Equip parents as the primary disciple rs of their students
  • Support our parent partnership strategy
Connect and Follow Up
  • Own follow-up for new students and their families
  • Create entry points for girls who are not yet connected, including gatherings, meals, and events
  • Be present in the lives of students beyond programming: campuses, games, practices, and everyday life
Plan and Execute Student Ministry
  • Help plan and run Wednesday nights, events, retreats, and camps
  • Own assigned areas of event logistics, setup, and follow-up
  • Attend and help lead camps, retreats, and mission trips, including overnight travel
  • Other duties as assigned by the Student Ministry Director
Protect Students
  • Honor student confidentiality within the limits of student safety, and make clear to students that parent involvement is required whenever concerns arise
  • Follow NHB child protection and digital communication policies without exception
  • Serve as a mandated reporter under Arkansas law and report as required
WHAT 20 HOURS LOOKS LIKE
  • Wednesday evening, student ministry night: 4 hours
  • Sunday morning, one service plus student…
