Position: Director, Offsite Energy Investments - Walmart Energy

Position Summary...The Director, Clean Energy Origination leads Walmart’s global strategy to originate, structure, and execute long-term energy partnerships that deliver measurable cost, risk, and sustainability outcomes. This leader builds a scalable pipeline of agreements and partnerships (e.g., PPAs, green tariffs, community solar, and similar structures) and partners across Finance, Legal, Sustainability and Operations to deliver value.

This role serves as Walmart's commercial leader for grid-connected energy origination and is responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, sourcing and executing long-term energy partnerships. The role also engages external stakeholders—including utilities, developers, investors, and policymakers—to expand access to affordable, reliable, lower-carbon energy.

About the team:

Walmart’s Energy Team drives progress toward a clean, affordable, and reliable energy future through strategic offsite investments. The Offsite Energy Investment Team leads large-scale, grid-connected clean energy projects by collaborating with developers, utilities, policymakers, and internal partners. This team enhances grid resilience, expands clean energy capacity, and manages long-term energy costs. Focused on strategic partnerships, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, the team supports sustainable energy solutions that deliver value to the business and communities while advancing Walmart’s clean energy goals.

  • Structure and negotiate complex deals (multi-party, long-duration contracts) in partnership with Legal/Finance—balancing economics, risk allocation, and performance guarantees.
  • Develop and execute long-term commercial partnerships supporting large-scale energy projects
  • Lead cross-functional execution from diligence through approvals, contracting, and ongoing performance management.
