Mechanical Designer II

Designer will work with Mechanical Engineer and/or Mechanical Design lead to communicate with client, deliver completed construction documents, and assist in construction administration as required for most project types.

• Utilize education and experience to independently develop, implement, and draft construction documents for most projects or major portions thereof.
• Solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on projects.
• Apply knowledge of recognized national standards with minimal oversight.
• Use design assistance software such as Trane Trace throughout the design process.
• Understand basic energy codes and their impact on design.
• Design and draft domestic water, sewer, and natural gas piping systems, including riser diagrams, for small to medium projects.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REvit; train new employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and answer technical questions.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineers to develop construction documents based on client requirements; perform some project management functions, quality control, or other duties as needed.
• Provide high level quality control on own and possibly other projects for final review by the Mechanical Engineer or Design Lead.
• Possess direct client contact in some cases.
• Work within established budgets; may be responsible for financial success of projects.
• Select and design HVAC systems, equipment, controls and provide energy calculations with minimal supervision on simple systems.
• Edit specifications for small to medium size projects.
