Intern – Automation Engineer

• Leverage data analysis and visualization tools to explore data, test hypotheses, and present insights
• Identify, implement, and drive technology changes within the scope of work
• Design and analyze business processes, workflows, and associated business logic
• Support business cases, recommendations, process updates, and assigned project activities
• Assess tasks for automation potential and evaluate alternative automation solutions
• Analyze space and cost requirements associated with automation machinery
• Identify and resolve automation machinery issues
• Measure and manage project performance with cross-functional teams
• Document implementation plans, project meetings, status reports, and next steps
• Participate in technology interface and bridge development
• Prepare integration tests and compare results with established criteria
• Plan and estimate simple projects under guidance
• Produce project status reports and assist with detailed plans, costs, schedules, and resource requirements
• Track project progress using Gantt, PERT, or equivalent charts
• Manage multiple projects with varying timelines
• Update CAD drawings and troubleshoot control systems
• Apply electrical design concepts, wiring schematics, and mechanical equipment knowledge to supply chain automation
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities using Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen principles
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to accomplish business goals

• Must have completed a summer 2026 Walmart or Sam’s Club internship

• Option 1:
  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 2 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area
• Experience with data analysis tools and visualization tools
• Knowledge of business process design tools and techniques
• Understanding of inbound and outbound logistics
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen principles
• Understanding of engineering economics and business cases
• Knowledge of automation machinery and automation solutions
• Ability to analyze space and cost requirements for machinery
• Knowledge of automation integration, technology interfaces, migration plans, and integration testing
• Project planning and status reporting skills
• Knowledge of CAD drawings and drafting conventions
• Ability to navigate and troubleshoot control systems
• Knowledge of electrical design concepts, wiring schematics, and mechanical components of distribution and fulfillment center equipment
• Ability to analyze data and compute descriptive statistics

Demonstrates expertise in data analysis and visualization, project planning, and automation solutions within engineering and supply chain contexts. Proficient in applying Lean Six Sigma principles and managing cross-functional projects to drive continuous improvement.
