Directs and oversees the operations of the Engineering, Street, Airport and Public Works Maintenance departments. Oversight of local Bus Transit program, along with the oversight of Federal, State, Regional, and local grants.
Prepares reviews and adjusts the annual operating budgets of the Engineering Street, Airport and Public Works Maintenance departments, and bond capital projects according to anticipated needs.
Plans, oversees, develops, implements, and monitors long-term plans, goals, and objectives focused on achieving the City’s mission and City Council’s priorities.
Oversees the planning, design, construction and estimating of official City public works projects such as arterial collectors, and local streets, transportation facilities, public structures, municipal airport projects, and storm water systems.
Develops plans for surface transportation projects according to established engineering standards and state or federal construction policies.
Plans alterations and modifications of existing drainage streets, highways, and freeways to improve drainage and traffic flow.
Performs field engineering calculations to compensate for change orders and contract estimates.
Reviews private development, municipal airport, highway and bridge plans, location, contracts, and cost estimates for technical accuracy, and approves acceptable proposals or makes corrective recommendations.
Directs workers in research activities related to street planning and engineering and formulates street engineering policies and procedures.
Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
Directs workers in preparation of reports to state and federal government officials and represents the City of Bentonville at hearings with public officials, contractors, and engineering personnel.
Prepares and presents public reports of transportation information. Studies vehicular and pedestrian traffic conditions.
