Job Overview
Provide coverage for short-term, surge, and on-demand situations related to Military needs such as post-deployment events or to cover assignments for counselors who are absent. Deliver full breadth personal financial counseling services to service members and families at military installations.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver one‑on‑one counseling and consultations with commanders or other providers.
- Conduct briefings and presentations.
- Refer participants to external resources as needed.
- Work closely with installation and branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure program scope and installation needs are met.
- Assist members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of personal financial management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Provide virtual counseling using secure online, chat, or video‑based communications.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per Department of Defense protocol.
- Communicate with leadership; participate in regular supervision, in‑service training, quality‑improvement committees or other contract activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required; may consider associate degree with 4 years experience or high school diploma with 6 years experience.
- Minimum 3+ years financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen, fluent English speaker; bilingual English/Spanish may be required per contract.
- Must obtain favorably adjudicated Tier2 investigation and pass OCI disclosures.
- Certification:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). - Valid driver’s license a plus.
Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 annually, based on national data. Position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
