Position Summary

The Senior Data Scientist will leverage advanced analytical and modeling techniques to extract actionable insights from complex data sets, supporting strategic business decisions. This role requires expertise in data sourcing, quality assessment, and model development, deployment, and validation. The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to translate business challenges into data‑driven solutions, develop scalable models, and communicate findings effectively through sophisticated data visualisation.

The Walmart Scintilla team transforms extensive data into actionable insights, recommendations, and innovations that enhance customer, merchant, and supplier outcomes. This team leads advancements in generative AI, agentic intelligence, and machine learning to redefine retail experiences, optimise operations, and develop new business models. • Identify and source relevant data from multiple business domains and databases to support analytical needs.
• Perform initial data‑quality assessments and ensure data suitability for modeling and analysis.
• Develop, test, and deploy advanced analytical models using programming languages such as Python and SQL.
• Validate and tune models to ensure accuracy, robustness, and scalability in production environments.
• Create clear and effective data visualisations to communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into data‑driven solutions.
• Mentor junior team members on modelling techniques and best practices.

• Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical modelling techniques.
• Proficiency in Python programming and data visualisation tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, and Tableau.
• Strong knowledge of data engineering, including SQL and No
  
  SQL databases, data‑quality standards, and data governance.
• Ability to identify, assess, and source appropriate data for business needs and perform initial data‑quality checks.
• Expertise in model development, validation, deployment, and scalability within production environments.
• Solid understanding of business domains to translate requirements into actionable data solutions.
• Experience mentoring junior associates and collaborating cross‑functionally to deliver impactful insights.
