Position Summary
As marketing evolves through increasingly complex content ecosystems, growing asset volumes, and expanding digital channels, Sam’s Club is focused on ensuring that content is structured, governed, and accessible to drive efficiency and consistency Manager, Digital Asset Management (DAM) Librarian plays a critical role in operationalizing this foundation. This role sits at the intersection of Marketing Strategy, Creative, Brand, Legal/Compliance, Channel teams (Ecom, Paid, Non-Paid), and Product/Technology—ensuring digital assets are properly governed, easily discoverable, and aligned to business and operational needs.
You will bring clarity and structure to complex, cross‑functional content workflows—translating business requirements into scalable DAM frameworks, metadata strategies, and operational processes. You will serve as a subject matter expert for DAM governance, taxonomy, and asset lifecycle management, driving alignment between business priorities and DAM platform capabilities.
- Digital Asset Management (DAM) Governance & Strategic Ownership
- Own and evolve the DAM governance framework, including metadata standards, taxonomy, naming conventions, and access controls.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for DAM strategy, influencing enterprise standards and best practices.
- Partner with Creative, Brand, Legal, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure rights management, licensing, and usage governance are consistently applied.
- Drive adoption of governance standards across business teams through influence, documentation, and enablement.
- Metadata & Taxonomy Leadership
- Design and maintain scalable metadata schemas, controlled vocabularies, and taxonomy structures aligned to business and user needs.
- Lead initiatives to improve asset discoverability, search relevance, and reuse through structured metadata strategies.
- Establish quality benchmarks and audit mechanisms to ensure metadata accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Act as the escalation point for complex taxonomy or metadata challenges.
- Asset Lifecycle & Operational Excellence
- Own end-to-end asset lifecycle processes including ingestion, metadata enrichment, versioning, archival, and expiration policies.
- Define and optimize workflows that ensure assets are organized, compliant, and efficiently managed at scale.
- Conduct audits and implement controls to maintain a high‑quality, compliant asset repository.
- Asset Intake, Review & Approval Governance
- Serve as the final gatekeeper for all assets entering the DAM, ensuring alignment with metadata standards, taxonomy, naming conventions, and quality requirements.
- Review and approve assets prior to publication to ensure brand compliance, legal/rights adherence, and metadata completeness.
- Establish and manage intake and approval workflows, including required fields, validation rules, and escalation paths.
- Partner with Creative, Brand, and Legal teams to resolve asset discrepancies, compliance issues, and approval exceptions.
- Reject or route back assets that do not meet established standards, providing clear guidance for remediation.
- Continuously refine intake processes to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency of asset onboarding.
- Cross‑Functional Influence & Enablement
- Lead cross‑functional alignment with stakeholders to improve DAM usage and integration into business workflows.
- Develop and deliver training, documentation, and best practices to increase DAM adoption and effective usage.
- Act as a trusted advisor to partners, translating business needs into DAM structure and governance solutions.
- Platform Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify gaps in DAM processes, tools, and workflows; recommend and drive improvements in partnership with Product and Engineering teams.
- Influence DAM platform roadmap by advocating for features that enhance metadata management, searchability, and user experience.
- Define and track KPIs such as asset reuse, search success rate, and metadata completeness to guide optimization efforts.
