Data Scientist

Position Summary

As a full stack Staff Data Scientist for Walmart Marketplace, you will design, develop, and operate scalable end‑to‑end data science solutions on a fast‑moving e‑commerce platform. You will own the MLOps lifecycle and collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams.

• Build scalable end‑to‑end data science solutions for marketplace data products.
• Own the MLOps lifecycle from data monitoring to model lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain MLOps infrastructure, including Kafka pipelines for unified logging and monitoring.
• Apply SRE principles to optimize cloud deployments and troubleshoot application latency.
• Lead code review and engineering best‑practice initiatives, mentoring junior MLEs.
• Design distributed training, inference, and monitoring pipelines used across multiple initiatives.
• Enhance data feedback and annotation workflows to improve labeling efficiency.
• Consult product and business stakeholders to build, scale, and deploy machine‑learning solutions.
• Align AI solutions with Walmart’s business objectives.
• Balance model accuracy, computational efficiency, and business impact in end‑to‑end deployments.

• Strong foundation in machine‑learning and statistical theory.
• Experience in supervised/unsupervised and deep‑learning approaches.
• Proficiency in Python and data‑structure design.
• Hands‑on experience with big‑data platforms (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, Scala).
• SQL and relational‑database skills, including data‑warehouse concepts.
• Familiarity with Git, continuous integration, and version control.
• Experience translating complex business problems into data‑science algorithms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or related field and 4 years of analytics experience, or
• Master’s degree with 2 years of analytics experience, or
• 6 years of experience in analytics or related field.

• Ph.D. or advanced research in Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, or related areas.
• Experience with Python, Spark, Scala, or R and open‑source frameworks (scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch).
• Background in accessible digital experiences and WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
