Senior Manager, Advanced Analytics leads the strategy, development, and execution of external data initiatives that drive merchandising and enterprise decision-making. This role oversees external data vendor partnerships, research and development roadmaps, data testing, and data quality/analytics reporting. The position evaluates and justifies business use cases for external data investments while representing the organization in cross‑functional research and collaboration efforts. By coordinating alignment across enterprise teams and advancing analytical capabilities, this leader supports long‑term business objectives.

The Merchandising Decision Sciences External Data team identifies, acquires, and maximizes the value of external data assets that support Walmart’s strategic priorities. The team partners with vendors, business stakeholders, data science, and enterprise organizations to evaluate emerging data opportunities, develop research and development roadmaps, and establish scalable data solutions. Through advanced analytics, testing, reporting, and governance practices, the team enables informed decision‑making across the organization.

• Lead the External Data Program strategy, including vendor partnerships, data acquisition initiatives, and long‑term research and development roadmaps.
• Drive advanced analytics projects to evaluate, validate, and maximize the value of external data assets and opportunities.
• Develop and oversee data testing frameworks, performance measurement processes, and reporting solutions to support business decisions.
• Build business cases and funding justifications for external data investments and strategic initiatives.
• Partner with Data Science teams to accelerate analytical capabilities and support future roadmap development.
• Represent the organization in cross‑functional research efforts and business stakeholder engagements.
• Coordinate alignment across enterprise teams to support internal data collaborations and strategic priorities.

• Expertise in advanced analytics, data exploration, and business problem solving using large and complex datasets.
• Expert‑level SQL skills and strong experience working with modern cloud‑based data platforms.
• Proven experience developing data visualizations, reporting solutions, and executive‑level business insights.
• Strong understanding of external data acquisition, evaluation, testing, and vendor management processes.
• Experience building business cases, investment justifications, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with experience partnering across business, analytics, and technology organizations.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related field and 4 years’ experience in data analytics or related field OR 6 years’ experience in data analytics or related field.

• Certificate in business analytics, data mining, or statistical analysis.
• Experience with statistical programming languages such as SAS, R.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or Statistics.
