Position Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative Data Scientist to design, develop and implement production‑grade Agentic AI, advanced machine‑learning solutions at enterprise scale. You will translate ambiguous business questions into measurable problems, build models and data products end to end, and communicate insights that influence decisions across the business. This role requires collaboration across functions to translate business challenges into data solutions, support data quality and governance standards, mentor junior team members, and deliver actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives and operational improvements.

The Sam’s Club Applied AI Team collaborates closely with supply chain and replenishment units to transform end‑to‑end systems. The team applies critical thinking and data‑driven approaches to solve complex challenges and enhance operational efficiency, designing innovative supply‑chain solutions and leveraging advanced technologies to improve the experience for members.
What you’ll do- Apply advanced statistical, machine‑learning, and agentic AI techniques to develop and validate analytical models that address complex business challenges.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature selection, and hypothesis testing to derive actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Support deployment, scalability, and sustainability of models in production environments.
- Develop, test, and maintain code using Python, SQL, and related tools to ensure data quality and model performance.
- Communicate findings through effective data visualization and storytelling to influence business decisions.
- Proven experience building and deploying Agentic AI, ML, or other AI models for real‑world applications, including performance tuning, validation, and A/B testing.
- Proficiency in advanced statistical methods, exploratory data analysis, and feature selection for analytical modeling.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, plus experience with ML libraries and open‑source frameworks such as scikit‑learn, PyTorch, Tensor Flow, or similar.
- Hands‑on experience working with large datasets, distributed compute, and production data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of business requirements and ability to translate them into data‑driven solutions.
- Excellent academic or industrial track record of proposing, conducting, and reporting results of original research, including collaborative research with publications.

- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, plus 2 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
- Master’s degree in a related field, or 4 years’ experience in an analytics or related field.
- Masters or Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics.
- Experience with Python, Spark, Scala, or R; familiarity with open‑source frameworks such as scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, Torch.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.

CompensationThe annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $. Additional compensation may include annual or quarterly performance bonuses and Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location.
