Position Summary

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will build and manage the inventory flow metrics scorecard that provides executive insight into the levers shaping same‑day and next‑day customer value proposition and overall inventory productivity across nodes, SKU segments, and flow channels.

You will also conduct root‑cause analyses of trends and levers to accelerate progress toward the future state vision and CVP goals, influencing multi‑billion‑dollar decisions by defining KPI standards, modeling end‑to‑end flow paths, and delivering insights that guide upstream and downstream network design aligned with Walmart’s long‑term vision.

You will leverage AI agents, SQL, Python, and visualization tools to run sensitivity analyses, own executive reporting, and define the framework for scorecard and dashboard design, including KPI selection, data sources, refresh cadence, and visualization standards.

This role requires partnering with cross‑functional teams to align on metric definitions and establish governance for metric accuracy and consistency.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the development, assessment and validation of advanced analytical models using best practices to ensure accuracy, robustness, and business relevance.
  • Design and implement data visualization solutions that communicate complex insights to stakeholders and support decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable data‑science projects aligned with strategic goals.
  • Guide and mentor team members on modeling techniques, feature engineering, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Oversee model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement to maintain performance at scale.
  • Drive data source identification, quality assessment, and integration to support reliable analytics outcomes.
What you’ll bring
  • Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and model development.
  • Strong knowledge of model assessment, validation, and tuning methods to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and best practices to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable data‑science solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring teams and guiding technical development in data‑driven environments.
  • Solid understanding of business context across multiple domains to provide impactful recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Option 1:
    Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and at least 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2:
    Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and at least 1 year of experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3:
    At least 5 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Data‑science, machine‑learning, and optimization‑model expertise.
  • Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics.
  • Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
  • Experience with open‑source frameworks such as scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, or PyTorch.
