The Sr. Sales Planner supports forecasting, inventory planning, and in-stock performance for Walmart and Sam’s Club. This role plays a critical part in aligning demand and supply plans across Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve forecast accuracy, optimize inventory levels, and support strong retail execution in a fast-paced customer environment. The ideal candidate brings experience in demand planning, supply planning, or integrated business planning within a CPG or retail environment and is comfortable independently managing end-to-end planning processes while partnering cross- functionally to drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Manage annual and rolling shipment forecasts within Anaplan or similar planning systems
- Support the monthly S&OP process through preparation of insights, identification of risks, and development of actionable recommendations
- Analyze demand trends and key business drivers to improve forecast accuracy and alignment to business expectations
- Monitor forecast performance and adjust plans based on changing business conditions and retail signals
- Support inventory planning strategies to improve in-stock performance while minimizing excess inventory and obsolescence
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to align supply plans with demand forecasts and business priorities
- Assist with inventory management activities, including markdown planning and end-of-life product transitions
- Identify supply and inventory risks and help coordinate mitigation plans across stakeholders
- Analyze shipment, sales, and in-stock performance to generate actionable insights for internal stakeholders
- Track item-level performance and support root-cause analysis across retail channels
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve on-shelf availability and e-commerce fulfillment performance
- Support forecasting and planning for new item launches, displays, and seasonal programs
- Partner with Sales teams on promotional planning and ensure supply readiness
- Support post-promotional analysis, including sales performance, incremental lift, and execution effectiveness
- Partner closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support business objectives
- Develop strong working knowledge of replenishment, logistics, and distribution processes
- Participate in weekly business reviews by highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning processes, systems, and tools
- Strong understanding of forecasting, S&OP, demand planning, and inventory management principles
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with planning systems (Anaplan or similar)
- Strong analytical capability with ability to translate data into actionable business insights
- Strong communication skills with ability to present findings and recommendations clearly
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively across Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations Sr. Sales Planner
- 4+ years of professional level experience in demand planning, supply chain planning, forecasting, or integrated business planning
- Experience supporting Walmart, Sam’s Club, or similar large retail customers strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to present insights and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and execution discipline
Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment and may be stressful k may require sitting for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine and scanner.
