Marketing Strategy, Branding Specialist / Ambassador
Position Summary
Sam’s Club Member Access Platform (MAP) is building the future of retail media and member engagement — and we’re just getting started. As Director, Experiential Marketing Planning & Strategy, you will define and lead the end-to-end event and experience strategy for MAP. This is not an event planning role. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for building the vision, framework, and execution engine behind high‑visibility internal, B2B, industry, and member‑facing events that drive brand growth, partner engagement, and business impact.
Operating within a fast‑scaling, startup‑like environment inside one of the world’s most influential retail organizations, you’ll architect the strategy, build the playbooks, lead cross‑functional alignment, and oversee execution of enterprise‑level experiences that elevate the MAP brand and deliver measurable results. If you think like an event producer, operate like a strategist, and lead like a business owner — this role is for you.
You’ll Do Build and Own the MAP Experiential Strategy
- Define and implement a comprehensive, enterprise‑wide experiential marketing strategy for MAP across internal, external, B2B, B2C, and member‑facing events.
- Design scalable frameworks, toolkits, and playbooks that standardize planning, execution, and measurement.
- Bring Sam’s Club’s retail experience network to life through innovative, measurable activations that connect brand, business, and member experience.
- Create a long‑term roadmap that aligns event strategy to MAP’s aggressive growth goals.

- Ensure every event delivers a cohesive, insight‑driven story that drives engagement and business outcomes.
- Establish success metrics and post‑event analysis standards to enable continuous improvement.
- Anticipate risks, see around corners, and proactively solve for scale, complexity, and cross‑functional dependencies.
- Partner across Marketing, Media, Merchandising, Sales, Operations, and Executive Leadership to align event strategy with business objectives.
- Influence senior stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and flawless execution.
- Operate as the connective tissue between strategy and execution in a rapidly evolving organization.
- Lead agency selection, contract negotiations, and ongoing partner management for experiential and production vendors.

- Optimize investment allocation to maximize brand impact and ROI.
- Lead and develop a team responsible for experiential strategy and execution.
- Foster a culture of accountability, creativity, operational excellence, and attention to detail.
- Build capabilities that scale with MAP’s growth trajectory.
- A track record of building and leading enterprise‑scale experiential or event strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
- Experience owning large, complex events end‑to‑end — including internal, B2B, industry, and consumer‑facing experiences.
- Strategic vision paired with an event planner’s mindset — you see the big idea and obsess over every detail of the attendee journey.
- Proven ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders and executive leaders in matrixed organizations.
- Strong expertise in vendor selection, agency leadership, contract negotiation, and budget ownership.
- Deep understanding of how events integrate with media strategy, brand storytelling, and omnichannel marketing ecosystems.
- Experience operating in high‑growth, fast‑evolving environments where building structure and process is part of the job.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to craft compelling narratives that connect brand, business, and member impact.
