Job Summary

The Aircraft Paint Prep Technician I performs foundational paint preparation operations for overall exterior aircraft surfaces and removable parts.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities
  • Obtains/Reads/Interprets Process Documentation at Latest Revision to Perform Task Assignments
  • Seeks Guidance As Needed
  • Maintains All Equipment Before, During, and After Use, as Required, and Performs Preventative Maintenance on Equipment as Defined per Process
  • Maintains a Neat, Orderly, and Safe Work Environment that includes clean up after each operation and/or shift
  • Inspects Aircraft Non‑Sensitive Components before and after masking/unmasking process for interdepartmental transfers
  • Prepares Aluminum and Composite Substrates for Sealant, Primer, and Paint Application
  • Will Learn to Identify and Respect Aircraft Sensitive Zones, apply pore‑filler, and apply primer/surfacer to aircraft tail and parts
  • Will learn DFJ Standards for Treatment of Aluminum and Composites, quality standards for inspection, sealant, masking, and sanding, as well as how to correct identified discrepancies
  • Will learn how to Setup Work Area and move aircraft
  • Locate, Reference, and Utilize Work Orders and Reference Data Using Computer System to Ensure Compliance with Processes, and Accurately Document/Record Traceability Requirements and Process Data

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Core Competencies
  • Read, Speak, Write, Understand, and Communicate Effectively in English
  • Follow Written and Verbal Instructions
  • Perform Repetitive Movements and Work Overhead
  • Work on Upper Aircraft at Heights Greater Than 10 Feet
  • Use Mechanical Sanders, Buffers, Spray Equipment, Common Hand Tools, etc.
  • Pass Pulmonary Function Test;
    Obtain and Maintain Respirator Clearance;
    Facial Hair Restriction
  • Wear All PPE as Required
  • Prioritize Safety of Self, Others, and Aircraft
  • Attention to Detail
  • Capability to Learn How to Use Mechanical Sanders, Buffers, Spray Equipment, Common Hand Tools, etc.
  • Ability to work with and around various adhesives, paints, resins, and other preparatory paint materials
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Aluminum Pretreatment Certification by end of first six months
Additional Desired Qualifications
  • Previous Paint Experience Preferred;
    Aerospace Paint Experience is Optimal
  • Scissor/Boom Lift Certification
  • Familiarity with LEAN Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Principles
Working Conditions
  • Climate‑Controlled Hangars, with Occasional Work Outside
  • Involves Exposure to Chemical and Dust Levels Set by OSHA Standards
  • Lift/Hold/Carry/Push/Pull 50 Pounds With/Without Reasonable Accommodation for Intermittent Periods
  • Lift/Hold/Carry/Push/Pull 25 Pounds With/Without Reasonable Accommodation for Extended Periods
Physical / Muscular Dexterity
  • Walk/Climb/Stand/Kneel/Crouch/Work overhead for Extended Periods While Working on Aircraft
  • Repeatedly Ascend/Descend Scaffolds, Ladders, Steps, Stands, and Other Related Equipment With/Without Reasonable Accommodation
  • Complies with OSHA and Company Safety Standards and procedures
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position typically falls between $21.00 and $23.00 per hour. This position is eligible for overtime. The position may also be eligible for shift differential. The final compensation offered will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon‑specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
