We are seeking an accomplished Retail Business Development Manager to accelerate growth across major mass market retailers, including Walmart and Target. This role combines licensing expertise, retail strategy, and cross-functional partnership—developing integrated retail programs across Apparel, Accessories, Beauty, Home, Toys, Collectibles, Food & Beverage, and Technology categories.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key retail buyers and communicate brand initiatives, marketing campaigns, and business opportunities
- Serve as primary liaison coordinating requests and updates across Licensing, Creative, Marketing, and external manufacturing partners
- Develop and oversee comprehensive project tracking systems, including retail calendars, program timelines, and performance dashboards
- Manage approval processes for retail marketing assets and promotional campaigns
- Collaborate with Marketing to create and execute in-store merchandising and digital retail activation programs
- Deliver regular business updates to retail partners, including quarterly projections, program updates, and performance analytics
- Partner with retail leadership and manufacturing partners to conceptualize and pitch cross-category merchandising initiatives
- Create customized pitch decks and quarterly business reviews for retail accounts and internal leadership
- Drive new business development through competitive analysis, trend forecasting, and market opportunity identification
- Evaluate sales data and consumer insights to recommend adjustments to merchandising strategies and promotional tactics
- Maintain consistent communication with manufacturing partners regarding retail placement timelines and program rollouts
- Execute monthly retail store audits to evaluate brand visibility, merchandising execution, and competitive landscape
- Attend and represent the brand at industry trade shows and retail networking functions
- 3-5+ years of experience in consumer product licensing, retail account planning, or channel development
- Strong understanding of licensed product development cycles, including partner onboarding, deal structuring, product launches, and lifecycle management
- Proven track record in building partnerships and growing existing accounts within licensing or branded goods environments
- Experience working with major mass market retail accounts (Walmart, Target, etc.)
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to analyze data and build executive-level presentations
- Strong presentation and storytelling abilities with experience delivering compelling pitches to secure retail placement
- Superior organizational skills with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and drive multiple initiatives forward simultaneously
- Polished written and verbal communication style; comfortable engaging with senior executives and external stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- Must reside in Bentonville, AR, with flexibility for quarterly travel to the West Coast corporate office
