The Sales Planner (Walmart/Sam's Club) is a key contributor to the success of one of Simply Good Foods' largest customer partnerships. This role supports the execution of customer strategies by coordinating cross-functional efforts, managing critical business processes, and ensuring the sales team has the tools, insights, and resources needed to drive growth. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, organization, analytical thinking, and a passion for delivering results in a fast-paced consumer packaged goods environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide weekly and monthly reporting on in-store and eCommerce performance by developing and maintaining trackers that identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth.
- Manage promotional planning and forecasting activities, including trade promotion execution, promotional contracts, trade rate management, and internal communications.
- Partner with the Walmart/Sam's Club Sales Analyst to conduct post-promotional analysis and identify opportunities to optimize future promotional effectiveness.
- Prepare and submit monthly Retail Objectives while partnering with the VP of Sales and broker partners to maximize in-store execution and sales performance.
- Support the Omnichannel business by partnering with eCommerce, Creative Services, Walmart Connect, and the Sam's Club MAP team on forecasting, promotional planning, and digital activation.
- Support Category Management during line reviews by organizing data, preparing presentation materials, setting up new items, participating in customer meetings, and documenting action items.
- Coordinate new item setup, forecasting, item maintenance, and innovation launches with Walmart, Sam's Club, McLane, Core-Mark, and other customer partners.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to develop and execute in-store merchandising, shopper marketing, and customer activation programs.
- Support the planning and execution of customer selling events, trade shows, national promotions, and other strategic sales initiatives.
- Maintain promotional activity within internal planning systems, including Anaplan and Flint Fox (or comparable systems).
- Partner with Finance and Accounts Receivable to manage customer deductions, post audits, disputes, and repayment activities.
- Assist Sales Operations and Marketing with reporting, planning tools, process improvements, and other cross‑functional projects that enhance team effectiveness.
- Working knowledge of consumer packaged goods (CPG) sales planning, forecasting, trade promotion management, and business analysis.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with experience using planning and trade management systems such as Anaplan, Flint Fox, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and external customer partners.
- Ability to incorporate customer strategies, brand priorities, and sales objectives into actionable business plans.
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Sales Planning, Trade Marketing, Sales Operations, Customer Development, or a related commercial planning role within consumer packaged goods (CPG).
- Experience supporting Walmart and/or Sam's Club business preferred.
- Experience working with syndicated data such as Circana (IRI) and/or NielsenIQ preferred.
- Experience with trade promotion planning, forecasting, or trade spend management preferred.
- Experience with customer planning systems such as Retail Link, Item
360, Atlas, Madrid, Anaplan, Flint Fox, or similar platforms preferred. - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Work is performed in a fast‑paced office environment and may be stressful k may require sitting for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine and scanner.
