** About The Position
** The General Maintenance Technician II plays a critical role in maintaining the functionality, safety, and appearance of facilities across the campus. In addition to performing a wide range of general maintenance tasks, such as repairs, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance, this more senior-level position takes on added responsibilities, including leading small projects, mentoring junior technicians, and providing technical guidance in more complex troubleshooting and repair efforts.
Working closely with the Manager of General Maintenance and the broader Facilities team, the Technician II serves as a key contributor to the smooth operation of building systems, infrastructure, and equipment across both indoor and outdoor spaces. The role includes a deeper focus on diagnosing system failures, coordinating with vendors and contractors, and supporting compliance with safety and regulatory standards through preparation for internal and external inspections.
This role requires advanced mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to solving problems independently and in collaboration with others. The Technician II helps ensure that maintenance activities align with organizational standards and support the broader mission of the campus. Participation in an on-call rotation is required, as is the ability to respond promptly to urgent situations when needed.

* Respond to maintenance requests submitted through the centralized maintenance management system in a timely and efficient manner.

* Coordinate preparation for both internal and third-party inspections, ensuring areas meet required standards.
* Maintain campus ponds, water features, and all related equipment to ensure proper operation and appearance.
* Coordinate contractors access, monitor work activities, and ensure complete work complies with organizational standards and site protocols.
* Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, installation, and repairs.
* Provide technical guidance, training, and day-to-day support to less experienced maintenance technicians to promote consistent work quality and safe work practices.
