Summary:
The Senior Technician, Refrigeration/HVAC - CRE, leads and supports HVAC/R teams by coordinating maintenance, repairs, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role ensures the efficient operation of refrigeration and HVAC systems through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and quality inspections. The position involves managing resources, overseeing special projects, and fostering collaboration with internal teams and external partners. The technician also provides training and evaluates skill development while promoting safety, integrity, and continuous improvement to support Walmart's operational excellence and sustainability goals.

The Walmart HVAC team provides expert technical services in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems to ensure comfort and safety. The team delivers prompt, high-quality service while following safety protocols and regulatory standards. Collaborating across departments, members support smooth operations and continuous improvement. By staying updated with industry advancements, the team enhances operational efficiency and equipment reliability. Their work ensures compliance and contributes significantly to Walmart's business objectives, creating a safe and comfortable environment for customers and associates.
What you'll do:
* Lead HVAC/R teams by coordinating work assignments and providing guidance to ensure quality and timely completion.
* Oversee compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC industry regulations through inspections, repairs, and refrigerant management.
* Manage preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC/R, EMS, and control equipment to maintain operational standards.
* Evaluate new technologies and implement improvements to optimize system performance and energy management.
* Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure resource availability and contract compliance.
* Provide training and support to technicians, fostering skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and implement effective facilities management solutions.
What you'll bring:
* Extensive experience in HVAC and refrigeration repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
* In-depth knowledge of EPA regulations and compliance with OSHA safety standards.
* Proficiency in managing Energy Management Systems, HVAC controls, rooftop units, and air handlers.
* Strong ability to conduct inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure quality standards in HVAC/R installations and repairs.
* Skilled in preventive maintenance and equipment repair to optimize system performance.
* Effective coordination and leadership skills to manage workloads and collaborate with service providers.
* Commitment to continuous improvement and adapting to evolving technologies and business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Current EPA license OR the ability to obtain one
* Vocational or Technical Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) certification and 2 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls OR 4 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field. Type I/Type II Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for Refrigerant handling
* Must have a valid Driver's License
* Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures
