UST is searching for a Data Engineer with strong programming knowledge in Python, Java, or Scala.
Opportunities and Responsibilities- Data Pipeline Development
- Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Develop batch and streaming pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.
- Integrate data from multiple sources including APIs, databases, and third‑party systems.
- Data Infrastructure Management
- Build scalable data platforms using cloud storage such as Amazon S3.
- Manage data warehouses and data lakes like Snowflake.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of data systems.
- Data Modeling
- Design efficient data models and schemas for analytics and reporting.
- Implement star schema, snowflake schema, and dimensional models.
- Maintain metadata and data catalog documentation.
- Data Processing & Transformation
- Write complex queries using SQL for data transformation.
- Develop scripts using Python for data processing and automation.
- Perform data cleaning, enrichment, and aggregation.
- Workflow Orchestration
- Automate and schedule data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow.
- Monitor pipeline execution and troubleshoot failures.
- Performance Optimization
- Optimize queries and pipeline performance for large datasets.
- Implement partitioning, indexing, and caching strategies.
- Ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers.
- Support machine learning teams with high‑quality datasets.
- Participate in agile development, code reviews, and sprint planning.

Qualifications and Requirements- Advanced knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark.
- Knowledge of streaming systems like Apache Kafka.
- Experience with workflow tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

CompensationRange: $82,000 – $123,000
BenefitsFull‑time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro‑rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company‑paid Employee‑Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short‑and‑long‑term disability benefits.
Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short‑term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.
