Position Summary
Our team partners with Walmart International, supporting over 5,900 retail locations across 26 countries. The team applies cloud‑native architecture and software design principles to build scalable, resilient solutions that streamline inventory management and store operations. Focused on mentorship, problem solving, and data‑driven decision making, the team enhances platform capabilities and developer productivity to support global retail operations.
Responsibilities- Lead teams of 6–10 engineers to deliver projects by setting direction, defining short‑ and long‑term solutions and timelines, introducing new architectural patterns, and performing design and code reviews.
- Drive discovery for medium‑to‑large initiatives by partnering with Product, UX, and business stakeholders to produce high‑level designs, secure approvals, run proofs of concept, and build prototypes.
- Translate requirements into scalable solutions, write and test code, communicate risks, troubleshoot defects, and ensure on‑time delivery and handoffs.
- Drive AI initiatives by identifying use cases, validating models, and integrating AI capabilities responsibly.
- Resolve production issues via impact analysis, action plans, and root‑cause prevention.
- 10+ years of experience in Java/J2EE, with 3+ years in Kafka or similar low‑latency messaging and 3+ years in No
SQL. - Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to broad audiences, with demonstrated high‑level system design expertise.
- Proven experience building large‑scale distributed, event‑driven systems; designing, building, and operating cloud APIs/services (Azure or other stacks).
- Familiarity with GraphQL, microservices, design patterns, open‑source libraries, CI/CD, unit testing, Kubernetes, and CNCF tools.
- Cloud certification (Azure or GCP) preferred.
- Mentor others, lead respectfully, innovate, execute accurately, and stay curious.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field with 4–6 years of relevant experience; or 6 years of experience in software engineering without a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of software engineering experience; knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and a background in creating inclusive digital experiences.
