Seasonal Head Lifeguard I​/II​/III

Summary

Head lifeguard is responsible for supervising and leading the team of lifeguards. Our head lifeguards supervise the safety of all patrons using the Bentonville Community Center. Head lifeguards must demonstrate strong customer service skills with a positive, energetic and outgoing personality. Head lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the health and safety of patrons by guarding their area of responsibility. As head lifeguard you are responsible for responding to any level of emergency around the pool area and facility within your training ability.

Head lifeguard must be able to enforce pool rules in a fair and polite manner.

• Must have previous lifeguarding experience
• Current American Red Cross PR/CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified. Training provided by the city of Bentonville if needed
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. Training provided by the city of Bentonville if needed

• Identify potential accident hazards
• Remain alert and prevent accidents
• Enforce pool rules to all participants
• Carry a positive attitude toward all job responsibilities
• Handle disciplinary situations with courtesy and fairness
• Being on time for your schedule shift
• Respond quickly to the level of your training and emergency action plan
• Remain physically able to demonstrate and perform rescues and lifesaving skills
• Able to meet in-service requirements monthly
• Ability to find qualified substitute for yourself in time of need
• Notifying manager of broken or unsafe equipment
• Daily chemical testing and participant head count when needed
• Able to perform all aquatic duties; roving, climbing into guard chair, sitting in rescue ready position, and overall cleanliness of pool area.
• Able to help with aquatic event set up and tear down
• Needs to be rescue ready at all times; equipped with rescue equipment, staff uniform, and whistle while on duty.
• Able to work flexible hours
• Responsible in keeping all certifications (PR/CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding) up to date to preform your job responsibilities.
• Be willing to be active in other Parks and Recreation responsibilities to help us reach our overall mission.
