Position: (1) Warehouse Worker

SUMMARY

Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of products, parts, and materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions. Operates a hand truck, forklift, or other heavy equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Receives incoming and ships outgoing materials, products, or supplies.
  • Reviews incoming freight verifying correct material and quantity have been shipped.
  • Counts items received or shipped and checks against packing lists, recording any discrepancies.
  • Supplies work areas with materials.
  • Issues material to various city crew members via barcode and telxon system.
  • Uses a gas or electric powered forklift to load and unload, move or stack materials or products up to 7,000lbs in weight.
  • Stocks delivered items and checks shelves for appropriate inventory levels.
  • Checks stock for outdated or damaged supplies.
  • Maintains records, replenishes stock, and plans for future requirements based on orders, production schedules and forecasts.
  • Evaluates inventory levels and notifies purchasing agent when reorders are necessary.
  • Maintains inventory records and prepares reports.
  • Prepares receiving or shipping reports and notes any backorders, shortages, or damages.
  • Performs activities to monitor and maintain inventory control of merchandise or materials.
  • Performs daily cycle counts on physical inventory.
  • Research and analyses on cycle counts.
  • Eagerness to learn material to familiarize yourself with our physical inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of (1) year forklift experience preferred. Basic computer skills including but not limited to experience in Microsoft outlook, word, and excel are required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
