Overview
Admissions Associates are members of the Student Recruitment & Engagement Team within the Office of Admissions. Associates have the opportunity to impact future generations of Bereans via high-impact recruitment strategies and play an integral role in sharing Berea with high school students during the early years of high school, when students are beginning to create their college exploration lists. Each Associate works directly with high school underclass students to educate them on Berea’s unique mission and distinctive outcomes, sharing their own Berea story to help students see the possibilities of a Berea education.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the College at recruitment events (on-campus, college fairs, high school visits, etc.).
- Utilize the Admissions Technolutions Slate CRM to access and update student records, complete tasks, execute queries, and analyze reports.
- Employ high impact recruitment strategies (phone, email, texts, mail, etc.) to follow up with well qualified prospective students.
- Collaborate with SRE team members to support operational efficiency and contribute to successful recruiting outcomes.
- As assigned, conduct on-campus information sessions, conversations and tours with prospective students and groups.
- Host virtual events for high school students to share the distinctive features of Berea while also providing education for conducting a college search.
- Support the transportation of admitted students and advisory groups to campus (airport pick-ups, drop-offs, etc.).
- Provide support for creation of Berea Student Advisory Group which will provide feedback on current recruitment efforts and suggestions for new efforts.
- Collaborate with Assistant Director of Print & Digital Communications to develop relevant marketing content for underclass students.
- Review departmental reports to track progress and determine next steps for growing inquiry pool.
- Assist in development of texting communication plan to engage and increase excitement about Berea with underclass students.
- Participate in monthly Berea Corp professional development workshops to enhance skills and support continuous growth.
- Complete administrative tasks, duties and responsibilities (Ask Admissions, expense reports, internal deadlines, etc.) in a timely manner while maintaining quality customer service.
Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree from Berea College with a graduation date within last two years
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- Experience with high school students preferred, but not required
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Goal oriented
- Affinity for people (eager to educate students about the Berea mission)
- Strong writing, public speaking and phone skills
- Attentive to details
- Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Required background check
Physical requirements:
- Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds
- Ability to drive/travel long distances
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Environmental conditions:
- Limited travel—some driving in inclement weather may be necessary
Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
- Standard office equipment: laptop computer with minimum software proficiency, fax machine, printer
- Vehicle: college car/van, golf cart
