DescriptionThis is a 12‑month, grant‑funded position offered through the Berea Corps program. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for assisting with implementing, conducting and monitoring the strength and conditioning activities of all Berea College athletic teams within NCAA Division III guidelines. Furthermore, they will provide oversight for the Combs Indoor facility. Additionally, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will assist with strength and conditioning/personal training services for Seabury Center operations while also supporting Health and Human Performance course instruction.

- Responsible for establishing specific training protocols for each of Berea’s athletic teams;
- Review and assist with program designs for individual athletes, as well as overall team programs;
- Collaborate with departmental staff to ensure training programs and methodologies are consistent across the department;
- Implement strength, agility, speed, flexibility and conditioning programs which include technique instruction, demonstration of techniques and skills, motivation and the development of discipline;
- Assist with pre‑habilitation and rehabilitation of injured student‑athletes under guidance of the certified athletic training staff;
- Support education for student‑athletes regarding nutrition and supplementation;
- Maintain inventory of equipment used for strength and conditioning, oversee their continued maintenance and assist with selection and bid solicitation of new equipment in the weight room and cardio areas;
- Communicate necessary repairs in the weight room and cardio areas to the Associate Director of the Seabury Center;
- Assist in scheduling Combs Indoor facility for various programs and activities, including open gym hours for student‑athletes for training and/or team workouts;
- Conduct testing and evaluation of athletes performance related to sports performance;
- Work with the campus dietician and Dining Services to create, update and maintain a “Good for Athletes” menu system;
- Provide educational and training services to the Berea College campus community and Seabury Center membership, including a monthly Weight Room Basics course;
- Assist with Health and Human Performance class supervision, instruction and support when requested;
- In support of Berea College’s great commitments this position requires student supervision. The fourth great commitment is to promote learning and serving in community through the student labor program, honoring the dignity and utility of all work, mental and manual, and taking pride in work well done. The supervision would include scheduling, assigning and approving work performed. Developing students about common workplace acumen and giving them tangible work experience is an expected outcome.

What You’ll Bring Education required to ensure success in this position- Academic coursework in Exercise Science is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required.
- Prior experience with strength and conditioning and/or personal/group training is preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational, leadership and time management skills.
