Overview
The Educational Technology Support Assistant will provide various courseware support and other educational technologies needs that can be used to enhance the teaching and learning experience for Berea College students. The Assistant will help provide support for faculty technology needs and special projects with the Moodle and Projector Coordinator, including the College’s faculty educational technology initiatives and projects. The position will also include conducting group and one-on-one faculty training sessions.
Responsibilities- Assist with administrating and providing support for Berea College’s campus-wide learning management system using Moodle with Moodle hosting provider.
- Assist the Educational Technology Team with managing the College’s faculty educational technology initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with the Educational Technology Team on all aspects of evolving campus academic technology needs.
- Serve as liaison to faculty and staff for various technology support and provide expert recommendations.
- Assist in researching and investigating the latest trends and developments in academic software and hardware used for higher education, including emerging technologies and technology-related pedagogy.
Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
What You ll BringEducation required to ensure success in this position:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
Experience required to ensure success in this position:
- Basic level of excellent customer service experience
- Basic knowledge of various educational technologies
- Basic knowledge of media services including hardware and software installation
Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Ability to train others on technology; experience in project management and instructional technology;
Macintosh and Windows expertise; ability to communicate effectively with faculty and students; ability to research, evaluate, modify, and integrate technology; working style that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity, and builds consensus.
License, certification, or registration necessary:
- Valid Driver’s License
Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and travel to various campus locations for on-site classroom technology support.
Environmental conditions:
- This position will be based in an office setting in Educational Technology, but many work hours will be conducted on-site in various classrooms and other locations across campus.
