Basic Function:
To establish a learning situation for students that will meet the needs of each student at his/her own level. To ensure that each student will grow to his/her greatest intellectual ability, emotional development and psychological well‑being.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and similar activities
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the student groups involved
- Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order in the classroom fairly and justly
- Provide availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and evaluate job performance cooperatively with department heads
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
- Maintain regular attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Curriculum, instruction, and assessment

- Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques

- Research methods and report writing techniques
- Laws, rules, and regulations related to assigned activities

Education and ExperienceMinimum requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment
Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment
Salary$45,900 to $81,031 Per Year
