Basic Function:
To establish a learning situation for students that will meet the needs of each student at his/her own level. To ensure that each student will grow to his/her greatest intellectual ability, emotional development and psychological well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and similar activities
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs of the student groups involved
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order in the classroom fairly and justly
  • Provide availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and evaluate job performance cooperatively with department heads
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Minimum requirement:
Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment

Licenses and Other Requirements

Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment

Salary

$45,900 to $81,031 Per Year
