The Coral Husbandry Specialist is responsible for maintaining and propagating a wide range of coral species within our aquaculture facility. This role involves hands-on care, monitoring water quality, and managing the health of the coral systems, including tanks and related equipment. The specialist will handle daily tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and monitoring environmental conditions to ensure the optimal health of the coral stock.
Additionally, the Coral Husbandry Specialist will work closely with our team to ensure sustainable practices and support the organization’s conservation efforts.
This role requires a deep understanding of coral biology, including the ability to identify stress signals, diseases, and implement appropriate treatment protocols. The Coral Husbandry Specialist will collaborate with staff biologists and other aquaculture professionals to research and refine coral propagation techniques, ensuring a high success rate of coral growth and survival. Experience with fragging, coral acclimatization, and maintaining complex reef systems is essential to excel in this position.
As a key team member, the Coral Husbandry Specialist will also assist in educating staff, clients, and stakeholders about coral care, emphasizing the importance of sustainability in coral reef ecosystems. The specialist will document progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our coral husbandry practices, aligning with our mission of supporting marine conservation and aquaculture innovation.
