Ohio Guidestone’s Youth Residential Campus provides out-of-home care for boys and girls with complex trauma, mental health needs, academic struggles, and severe emotional and behavioral concerns, which prevent them from living safely  Assistant House Manager provides operational leadership for the assigned cottage(s) providing supervision, leadership, cottage safety and oversight of our Residential Treatment Programs and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of Ohio Guidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
  • Assist Program Manager in the operational leadership for the assigned cottage(s) providing supervision, leadership, cottage safety and oversight of our Residential Treatment Programs and staff.
  • Responsible for knowledge, understanding and compliance with Accreditation Standards and Licensure requirements.
  • Evaluate service delivery to residents by ensuring Client Safety, Staff Performance, Licensure and Accreditation Compliance, Communication, Staff Development and Financial Performance.
  • Provide Orientation to each new resident, reviewing the Program Manual and completing Orientation Checklist upon admission.
  • Conduct Monthly Fire Drills on each shift, document performance and implement any changes needed. Collaborate with fellow colleagues to coordinate quarterly evacuation drill, documenting performance and corrections as needed.
  • Ensure completion of daily, weekly, monthly checklists, correcting deficiencies as identified, submitting work orders as needed.
  • Assist Program Manager in providing work schedules, assuring that cottage staffing requirements are met. If gaps in coverage occur, proactively works to fill or cover gaps as needed.
  • Develops a Personal Care and Activity Goal with each client and monitors progress monthly.
  • Available by phone during non-work hours for clinical consultation and crisis management.
  • Participate in weekly supervision meetings with direct supervisor and/or program leadership to ensure proper care of residents.
  • Complete all required documentation, which could be electronic or paper. As follows:
    Client incident reports (CIR’s), daily logs, night logs, communication logs, USDA logs and any other required documentation to ensure proper care.
  • Complete all required training prior to deadline, both in person and online through the agency’s learning management system.
  • Correctly utilize physical techniques as instructed by the agency approved behavioral safety system.
  • Maintain active status in all required certifications and training courses.
  • Assist Program Manager with recruiting, leading, motivating, and developing a team of employees, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment through effective coaching, performance feedback and career growth opportunities.

  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging.
  • Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years’ experience working with high risk/at risk youth, corrections or mental health population required. Associates or Bachelors’ degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work, Criminal Justice Youth Development or a related field is preferred.
