WHAT
- Summary & Purpose of the Position The Medical Value Liaison (MVL) is a field-based member of the U.S. Medical Affairs team who engages with population health decision-makers (PHDMs), external experts, and other professionals across the healthcare ecosystem.

Engagements focus on discussions regarding scientific evidence, health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), real-world data, quality strategies, and patient-centered outcomes. The MVL plays a key role in supporting Ipsen’s mission to improve patient outcomes through informed, evidence-based decision-making.

WHAT
- Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies Serve as the first-line Ipsen medical point of contact for high priority, sophisticated customer bases involving PHDMs for Health Systems/Integrated Delivery Networks, regional and national commercial payers (e.g. Health Plans, PBMs, GPOs, Specialty Pharmacies) and state and federal PHDMs (i.e. State Medicaid Agencies, Department of Defense (DoD), Veterans Administration (VA), Indian Health Service (HIS, etc.)).Work

closely with the Value and Access (V&A) – Payer, Corporate Accounts, and/or Reimbursement – Teams to identify and engage healthcare decision makers within each account.

Develop and execute a Strategic Account Plan for each priority account: gain and maintain a high level of understanding of customer population-management strategies, priorities, challenges, and evidence needs; identify opportunities for medical engagement and outline account-specific strategic goals.

Communicate scientific and health outcomes information to PHDMs, including but not limited to information on Ipsen products, treatment guidelines, population-management strategies, reimbursement and benefit design strategies, quality measures, adherence, etc., to advance formulary decision-making and/or improve patient outcomes.

Maintain and respond to requests for medical information.

Gather insights from PHDMs regarding Ipsen products, relevant disease states, treatment pathways, studies, and/or research interests.

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the US Healthcare Environment (Healthcare Policy / Reform, Quality, Population Health priorities, the evolving HIT landscape (EHR, CER, patient-centered research) and how changes are impacting PHDMs and HEOR needs.

Serve as an external scientific resource and work on partnership opportunities that pair key external stakeholder needs with available Ipsen resources (HEOR, Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial, etc).Partner effectively with Field Medical Matrix partners and other internal experts to meet PHDMs’ need for specialized or deep therapeutic area, product, or other scientific expertise.

Represent the company at specific medical / population health congresses and scientific conventions.

HOW
- Knowledge & Experience Knowledge & Experience (essential):2-3 years working with US Payer or Health System customers in a field-based medical role and /or within a managed care environment required.

Relevant scientific and/or HEOR experience in oncology, neurology, rare disease.

Excellent planning, presentation, written and presentation communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong time management skills to effectively manage field-based responsibilities.

Excellent collaboration skills with proven success collaborating across commercial and medical matrix teams in a cross-functional environment.

Strong understanding of healthcare policy and observational research methodologies, with the ability to credibly translate real-world evidence, comparative effectiveness research, and related models.

Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG, and other guidelines relating to compliant medical communications.

Fundamental understanding of clinical research and the regulatory environment

Strong ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers.

Experience thriving in a dynamic, fast-changing environment.

Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50–70%, depending on geographic territory.

Knowledge & Experience (preferred):

Residency and/or post-doctoral training in a pharmaceutical industry, health system, or payer setting is preferred.
