Max Bill Rate: $44.15/hr on W2

Location: 50 Connell Drive Berkeley Heights NJ 07922 United States

Contract Type: 12+ Months Contract (Possibility of Extension)

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite

Position Overview

Role: Software Asset Manager (SAM)

Experience Level: Mid-Level (3–5 Years)

The Software Asset Manager for the Americas Zone plays a critical role within the IT Vendor Management Office (VMO). This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and daily management of the software portfolio across the USA, Canada, and Latin America.

The primary objective is to:

  • Ensure software license compliance
  • Minimize financial and audit risks
  • Drive cost optimization across a complex global IT environment

This role acts as a key liaison between IT Sourcing, Legal, Finance, and IT teams, ensuring maximum value from all software assets for the business.

Key Responsibilities 1. Compliance & Audit Defense
  • Lead preparation and defense for external vendor audits (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, SAP)
  • Mitigate financial and legal risks associated with software compliance
2. Cost Optimization & Savings
  • Identify underutilized licenses and implement optimization strategies
  • Analyze usage data to recommend:
    • Contract renewals
    • Subscription right-sizing (SaaS/Cloud)
3. Vendor Relationship Management
  • Collaborate with IT Sourcing & VMO teams
  • Manage relationships with key AMER vendors
  • Review contract terms to ensure alignment with SAM requirements
4. Governance & Reporting
  • Maintain a “Single Source of Truth” for software assets
  • Generate monthly KPIs for senior IT leadership covering:
    • Compliance status
    • License coverage
    • Spend analysis
    • Optimization progress
Technical Requirements & Qualifications Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in Software Asset Management
  • Experience with in a large, multinational organization preferred
SAM Tools Expertise
  • Strong proficiency in Service Now SAM Pro (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Discovery patterns configuration
    • Entitlement management
    • Reconciliation processes
Advanced Analytics Skills
  • Expert-level Excel skills, including:
    • VLOOKUP
    • Index/Match
    • Pivot Tables
    • Power Query
  • Ability to normalize and analyze large datasets
Licensing Knowledge

Strong understanding of multiple licensing models:

  • SaaS: Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Salesforce
  • Cloud/Infrastructure: Azure, AWS (BYOL models)
  • On-Premise: Per-core, per-user, device-based licensing
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Finance, or related field
  • Certifications preferred:
    • CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager)
    • IAITAM or equivalent recognized certifications
